This is the short version of a video analysis of the last 6 minutes of the thrilling 2021.10.19.GSW-LAL game.

Steph Curry had a frustrating game that ended with his cathartic yells at the Staples Center crowd. The Lakers defense keyed in on Steph this whole game. And they sent two players, three players shadowing him. So it was hard for Steph to get any kind of rhythm and he shot pretty badly, but he still was useful through his good passing, play-making and screening, all the way to a triple double.

Down the stretch in winning time, Steph managed to dominate the game without scoring and created the advantages that his teammates translated to baskets and a great win.

Co-starring: Nemanja Bjelica, Draymond Green, Damion Lee, Andrew Wiggins, plus LeBron James and Anthony Davis being pissed at Russell Westbrook and Carmelo Anthony.

Short Version (free). 13+ minutes of video analysis and my usual ramblings, free for everyone.

Full Version (at DubNationHQ.com soon). The full experience with no ads: 18+ minutes with more defensive and offensive plays down the stretch analyzed.

That dagger shot of Wiggins should be a learning point for the newcomers. Steph initiated that sequence with 6 sec. to go and 1.4 sec left when Wiggins took the shot. In those 5 .6 sec, 4 players touched the ball with the last player wide open. That in essence is the whole point of Kerr’s system. Breakdown the defense and create an opening by passing the ball. Eventually a player will over commit and leave a shooter open.

That last play was really a beautiful high IQ basketball. Most credit belong to Beli with his drive, fake pass to Lee then kick out to Wiggins but everyone also doing their own part.

I loved your analysis. Great stuff!

Beli is fantastic. He already knows what the Warriors' system means for his role and is fitting in perfectly. This was his first regular season game with the Warriors! He *ought* to be a little bit confused - new teammates and all. He obviously isn't.

Got to love smart players.

Neman Bjelica is going to be the dubs' x-factor. He's the Nikola Jokic of the warriors

"Damion Lee's "Spastic Matador" defense was surprisingly effective on LeBron today, who left the game in the third quarter needing a quiet, dark room and a hug..."

The breakdown of these plays is what got me here. But the dissection of non-basketball player reactions...that's what kept me.
