Exactly what I needed cos I'm going to driving friend's car like this and have never driven a Merc with the steering wheel shift so this is really helpful and important to know before I go for obvious safety reasons

I just bought a new 2018 C300 and it’s the first car I owned with the column mounted gearshift lever since the Oldsmobile Delta 88 that I used to own back in 1983.

Very helpful, especially the parking brake part. Thank you!

First off, putting your car in park stops the transmission from moving, so if you are on a big hill there’s a chance your car can still slip. The parking brake switch actually engages a break on the wheels that will prevent them from moving and it must be released before you start driving or you can damage the vehicle.

Secondly, there are manual gears. By the title of your video I was hoping you were going to talk about that. There are clearly paddle shifters that can be seen in the video that will engage that mode, but I was hoping to find an additional way.

Sorry, but column shifters like these are more suitable for GM cars from the 80s in my opinion (i.e. Oldsmobile, Chevy, Buick, etc..). Furthermore, its too easy to confuse this with the switch for the windshield wipers.   One reason I prefer the Audi to the Benz  is it still uses a floor-mounted shifter, not to mention is more fun to drive.

U mean there's no gear stick, i love all the techy stuff but let there b sticks

gear selector (stick) for automatic gear in Mercedes is not rightly mounted. it is great risk to touch it mistakenly during driving. the gear should be on gear place to avoid mistakenly

I actually like this better than buttons and huge space wasting levers.

I've been searching video about what if you mistake the gear lever as turn signal while driving, but can't find any. Years of driving I've been using my right lever as turn signal, so surely I'd use it mistakenly sometimes.

As someone else on here already mentioned. I was also looking at a good used low mileage GLK 350. However, this shift set-up is DANGEROUS in my honest opinion. Why in god's name would Mercedes who build such reliable "tank like" cars in terms of there safety. Take such a risky chance with a shifter like this...? It just doesn't make any sense too me. Which is EXACTLY the reason why i opted instead for a FULLY optioned Subaru Outback 3.6R. And quite frankly folks i couldn't be happier with the luxury and power of the Outbacks 3.6 6cyl engine. Not to mention i'm saving money at the pump to by not having to only use premium fuel. So that's a double "win win" situation in my book.

What I'd like to know is, what is the difference in the 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 gears in the CLS 550. Sports mode starts it in 1 gear, while Comfort mode starts it in 2nd gear. What is the difference in the gears? Speed?

Alright so what happens when i shift from drive to neutral while moving to rev the engine and back again to drive. And what happens if i accidentally shift to reverse while moving.? Awesome video by the way

I'm new to the C class...Is it normal to continuously change d1, d2, d3, etc on the social screen while driving?
