An Enchantment of Ravens is so good! I love how cunning the fae are which makes it satisfying to watch the main character have to outsmart them.

Totally agree with you on Hazel Wood! I enjoyed it a lot. I'm so used to female and male main character becoming a couple in YA books, that when the guy in the end of HW was like "Hey, I like you, but I want to have my own adventures, so bye-bye!" I was so pleasantly surprised!! 🤣

The smoke thieves has easily become one of my favourite books this year. I have such a hard time grasping how so few talk about this series. And the sequel is even better.

I read The Wolf after hearing you talk about it initially. Did not love. I wanted to, I swear! LoL. [insert shrug emoji] The plot gave me whiplash, I think.

I enjoyed The Hazel Wood, but I think in addition to that one being marketed incorrectly, it was also a victim of overhype. It was one of those YA books that was just SO EXCITED FOR OMG!!! and were talking about it pre-release like it was going to be the best book then when it wasn't, you got a lot of people saying "Oh I was so let down" and it's like, well yeah, of course you were. I loved Forest of a Thousand Lanterns and was pleasantly surprised by it, because most of the reviews I'd seen were lukewarm at best. But I thought it was really well done, definitely better than some other similar stories that people have loved more.

I have heard mixed reviews about the Hazel wood. Booktubers I'm following seem lukewarm about it. You've convinced me to read The wolf though. Is it a duology or a trilogy?
My turn: if you like beautiful writing and HIGHLY quotable lines. If you LIKE slow character driven fantasy with great court intrigue and historical fiction / fantasy novel inspired by eighth-century China dynasty. You, my friend, should bless yourself and read Under Heaven duology by Guy Gavriel Kay.

You should read For the Killing of Kings by Howard Andrew Jones. I loved it and have not heard anyone talk about it. The sequel is getting ready to come out and I am so excited. Also, I just read Crowfall last month and it is right up there with Holy Sister for favorite book of the year for me.
