Shrek 5 is Happening

Shrek 5 is real. During a new interview with Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri, he reveals that he's working with DreamWorks Animation to reboot the Shrek franchise with the upcoming Shrek 5! Will the original cast of Mike Myers, Cameron Diaz, and Eddie Murphy return? Do we even need another Shrek movie?

While Shrek 5 may not be necessary, DreamWorks Animation has entered a new era of experimentation. If they use what they learned from Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, they'll be able to turn this Shrek return into something incredible.

I can say I’m definitely more anticipating of shrek 5 than Toy Story 5

Finally, a movie series I can understand receiving a fifth entry. Not like a certain other series from a certain corporation that’s been losing their touch. Hopefully DreamWorks doesn’t screw this up.

I thought I would never see the day when Shrek 5 will actually happen. I'm definitely excited about the movie, especially after seeing how amazing Puss in Boots was, Shrek 5 is definitely going to be the greatest Shrek movie of all time.

After watching Puss in Boots; The Last Wish and remembering how long it's been since Shrek had another movie, Yes, Shrek 5/A Shrek Reboot is 100% necessary and needed. (At least in my book.)

As much as I love Dreamworks Animation, I still feel that I’d go in cautious for Shrek 5 since like said in the video, Shrek 4 was a perfect conclusion to the franchise. Also, I feel that Dreamworks would have a lot of pressure on them since everyone seems to expect perfection from shrek, so if the movie ends up being bad, we’ll I’m blaming the fans for rushing it. But I still am excited.

If it wasn’t for Puss In Boots the Last Wish, I would be in disgrace of this announcement right now. Don’t get me wrong, I’m still very nervous of how well it’ll be, but from what reboots such as The Last Wish and the Mario film have given us so far, I’m all in!

Look I’ll be honest. Shrek Forever After was a great sendoff to the series. However I am excited to see where they go in terms of Shrek 5. The fact that the original cast is on board with coming back is great.

What no one seem to realize - is that this new movie won't be a Shrek 5.
Just like Puss in Boots the last Wish was a soft-reboot of the series, the same will happen with Shrek.
A soft-reboot, is when a movie is aware of the previous movies, but yet tries so hard to be it's own thing that becomes a whole new movie that can even retcon the previous events.

I fell bad for whatever Disney film is gonna be out against this, that movie WILL be destroyed. Shrek is a beloved franchise and this film will be watched by both kids and adults alike. I imagine Shrek Fever like we had Barbie fever, where you wear green to the movies

As far as getting the original cast back, it may be hard to get Cameron Diaz back as she recently mentioned retiring from acting again. Everyone else I have high hopes for and along with this report, there is supposedly going to be a spin-off film centering around Donkey!
