The Perennial Philosophy is a 1946 work of mystical theology by the British author, Aldous Huxley. Born in Surrey in 1894, Huxley was the grandson of the man who invented modern agnosticism as a doctrine, and who served as a fierce defender of Charles Darwin’s Theory of Evolution. He was a pacifist, and in 1937, moved to California, where he was inducted into Vedanta Hinduism, and where he stayed until his death in 1963, at the age of 69.

I was fortunate enough to discover a very old copy of this book years ago at my local library. As a person who has always been deeply spiritual and interested in religion without subscribing to any particular faith, this was an incredible read. I would recommend it to anyone interested in theology or traditionalism.

What an excellent review and summary. Do you think this is an attempt at comparative religion along the lines of Jung or MP Hall, or an attempt to form a single spiritual thread?

Religion is the answer to questions with no answer. Hence, they can only be wrong or, at best, guess work. Hope Husxley wasn’t fooled by their magic realism…
In any case, thank you for a great introduction to a book I haven’t yet read, I’ll give it a try 😘

All it matters is whether the process of initiation is viable reality.

Well if it isn't the tiktok book man! Put your face on thumbnails, you're recognizable to your audience with your face more than just your name.
