What is propelling China’s rise at a speed and scale unmatched elsewhere on earth?

The answer lies in a non-partisan, but highly competent government lead by the meritocratic CPC leadership; a formidable cultural heritage of a continuous civilisation; a huge and well educated population that has live through unprecedented changes, and their astonishing propensity to adopt and adapt to innovations.

The vision of the “Chinese Dream” (中国梦: 强国梦, 强军梦) is well captured in a mission statement adopted at the 19th National Congress in October 2017; that is, to make the country prosperous, strong, democratic, culturally advanced, harmonious and beautiful by 2050.

President Xi has kept reminding the Chinese people that in order to achieve that vision, the CPC members must harbour in their hearts and minds, and not lose sight of their primary mission (牢记使命，不忘初心, 方得始终).

The development and role of the think tanks is to ensure the fulfilment of that grand vision, and not indulging in fancied rhetorics that are largely academic.
