(Maybe Mr. Longfingers only appears if you hear about his story, it's hard to imagine the kid didn't keep his eyes closed for more than 15 seconds before hearing the story. As he said, he was so scared of Mr. Longfingers that he opened his eyes while shampoo was still on his face. This means that you only get visited by Mr. LongFingers if you hear his story). The grandma told him that she would scare him away and make sure no harm will come to the kid. One week later she took a shower while everyone else was sleeping and kept her eyes closed to face Mr. Longfingers, but we all know what happened in the end...
