I just got back from dinner with the neighbors up at our local Cracker Barrel. I shit you not, they had the pointy witches hat and the pilgrim hat for $16.99 each. We were laughing at them. Then I come home, and what does SAD present me with? Too funny! For our non American friends, Cracker Barrel is a restaurant dedicated to home style cooking and are usually located next to an interstate hiway exit to feed travelers. They have a shop that sells all kinds of stupid shit like those hats you have to walk thru to get in or out. Classic American hiway robbery.

Opening track on "Madcap's Flaming Duty", which is dedicated to Syd Barrett, who died in 2006, the year before it was released.

What if we new beauties see
Will they not stir new affection?
I will thinke they pictures be
(Image-like, of saints perfection)
Poorely counterfeting thee

But your reasons purest light
Bids you leaue such minds to be
Who is it that this darke night

Well, in absence this will dy;
Leaue to see, and leaue to wonder
Absence sure will helpe, if I
Can learne how my selfe to sunder

But time will these thoughts remoue;
Time doth work what no man know

Time doth as the subiect proue;
With time still the affection groweth
In the faithful turtle-doue

Why, alas, and are you he?
Be not yet those fancies changed?
Deare, when you find change in me

The lyrics are from the 1580's from a sonnet by Sir Philip Sidney. The music by Edgar Froese. From greek, astra means star, phil means love.
Doesn't have to be wild. Beautiful and ambient is good too.
Love how they blend electronica with old, traditional, even ancient instruments.
Saxy lady on didgeridoo 🙂. Bernhard Beibl using a guinness bottle for slide. Thorsten playing yet another different instrument.
Don't think having the sound halved for most of the song helped the atmosphere.

I love Tangerine Dream! I've seen them twice. The highpoint of this band is their classic 70's albums. They are really an all instrumental band and more importantly a pioneering synth band.
This is not a good representation of the band IMHO.
