In 1975, Chilean director Alejandro Jodorowsky, whose films EL TOPO and THE HOLY MOUNTAIN launched and ultimately defined the midnight movie phenomenon, began work on his most ambitious project yet. Starring his own 12 year old son Brontis alongside Orson Welles, Mick Jagger, David Carradine and Salvador Dali, featuring music by Pink Floyd and art by some of the most provocative talents of the era, including HR Giger and Jean ‘Moebius’ Giraud, Jodorowsky’s adaptation of Frank Herbert’s classic sci-fi novel DUNE was poised to change cinema forever.

The most remarkable thing for me is in fact his enthusiasm. Imagine being at that point of your life/career and still coming of like a teenager ready to take on the world. Alejandro Jodorowsky is truly a great inspiration to us all.

There is a script, complete storyboards and extensive artwork. Adapting all of this shouldn't be impossible. Would be cool if they'd do an animated Series out of it.

Just think - if this had found its budget and studios hadn't run screaming from its runtime, this film would have come out before fuckin Star Wars. I mean shit, broken up it would've been as if six Star Wars movies had been released back to back. It would've changed everything. Literally everything we know about pop culture would be unrecognizable.

This documentary is very inspiring. If you are really really passionate about something, this will resonate with you. specially Jordowsky's words towards the end.

This could be done today as a TV show. If Jodorowsky was really gonna make this as a 12-14 hour movie, it could totally be done as a miniseries. Game of Thrones has shown us that seasons of TV can basically be 10 hour movies, so who knows?

This is one of the best films I've seen, if not the best. It struck a very deep chord with me. Everyone should see this, even if they don't know what DUNE is.
