Railbikes on the Skunk Train line in Fort Bragg

Amie and I got a chance to ride the Skunk Train last week and while we were there we found out that they have a new experience called railbikes which are used to "bike ride" on the train tracks. It was one of the most fun things we did on our trip and if you get up to Fort Bragg, check it out.

Do you actually get any time to enjoy it by yourself, or do they pack the riders one after another? It looks crowded, like the other railbikes are right in front of you and behind you.

Fort Bragg is a beautiful little city in northern California. Just north of Mendocino.

So when are they going to make a national rail bike train track across America ? Or 2 . 1 for each way

Sad to see it closed I don't think they will open it again when you see the tracks pulled that seems to always mean the end of a train line for good. To lay new tracks and open a tunnel will cost mega bucks..

WOW ! I guess I was real lucky. Rode behind the #45 steam locomotive, to the 'turning 'Y', in the middle if the forest. Went through that tunnel at that time. (visit in sept. 2009). Hope they can get the tunnel repaired.

way up north    I was on avenue of the giants   when I saw the red woods    I was driving a full sized dodge van   I turned around  and there was a foot of tree in either side of the van        huge tree   where I parked

How strenuous is the ride? My GF isn't a biker so I don't wanna be the plow horse if we go.. lol
