@Dankster312 I was saying its weird that should compete in the Olympics and the Paralympics, I never said he wasn't disabled because he qualified, don't know where you got that from at all

Ironically they aren't illegal in the most important competition in the world. Yadda yadda yadda .He played according to the rules, he did a better job and deserved the gold. PERIOD.

If the blades make them the same height now even though Oliveira should be 2" shorter, you're saying that Oliveira is about 2" shorter than Pistorius AND his blades are about 2" longer. Don't you see how that would be a massive advantage? That's like being able to drop two weight classes in boxing while still having the same height and reach as the guys two weight classes above you.

No, the blade legs are proportionate to the body. (just as in normal life, there are people with body and legs longer than others)
Including, there is a regulation about it and the Brazilian is respecting these rules.

Hi Dankster. I´m not an expert, but in my opinion there are completely different concepts between box and running.
So tell me: Do you think that a "stilt walker" could be a gold medal winner? Just because his legs are very very long?
IMHO Alan did an excelent job working in the rules. I see that he got an advantage using a long blade (needed less steps), but even so Alan used what he could use.

Alan´s "super-long" blades (that makes him 1.96 inches taller than his regular height) are legal. Alan was the best in the rules, and that is it. Pistorius was great too, but that was not enough. Fair play.
Notice: in that race, both Alan and Pistorius seem to be 1m81 height - 5.94 foot.
Sorry the poor English.

No, the whole point of the paralympics is to prove that those who are not "able-bodied" CAN compete. To say "oh, wait, you compete too well, you're not REALLY disabled" is an insult to all handicapped people, implying that you're not really handicapped unless you suck at everything.

Um, I would consider the Olympic Games to be a more important competition than the Paralympics.

He got to race in the Olympics because his time qualified.

He got to race in the Paralympics because he has no lower legs and his time qualified.

Do you understand now?

He gets to complete in the normal Olympics because he had a very fast time that qualified. He couldn't win gold at the Paralympics because the other guy used super-long blades that are illegal in other competitions.

Actually, the rules were changed so he COULDN'T compete. He had to fight to get the rules changed back, when scientists examined his blades and decided that they weren't an advantage.

(continue) I would like to see Pistorius using a long blade too (2" more). I´m quite sure he wouldn´t do a better time. If I were Alan, I would propose this to the greek man. Regards.

Nah thats not right, he shouldnt be in the olympics because he belongs in the paralympics. The whole point of the paralympics is to give those who are not able bodied the chance to compete in their own olympic games and if they put him in the olympics than I dont think he should be allowed to once again compete for medals in the paralympics

@martian59 Ok, You gotta give him some credit for getting a silver medal but I think it's weird that he gets to compete at the normal Olympics when he couldn't even win gold at the Paralympics

How come the South African got to race in the normal Olympics as well as the paralympics?

@JMchief93elite Might be mental type disorders, you notice that all the racers in the 100m have all their limbs so maybe it's a different type of race so like they have 100m for people with missing limbs and 100m for people with mental disorders idk
