If Gamefreak likes VGC that much, they might as well make doubles the standard battle in games from this point onwards. You'd think a game which mainly revolves around Singles battles would cater to 6v6 more but nope.

Duncan’s point is so salient: the solution is already coded into the game. Just allow players to use the VGC chess timer in WiFi battles instead of just over LAN.

I was so excited to finally be able to upload Wifi battles being able to use a regular capture card. Then I realized that 20 minute timer means that people will just knock out one mon and do everything they can to stall indefinitely, and even if they don't, you still can't finish a game where serious plays are being made. 6v6 singles are literally unplayable in game. Its quite tragic and I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who feels this way. Hopefully Nintendo can provide the option in an update so we can all enjoy SWSH in game battles as much as we should be able to. (A no D-Max option would be hype as well, though since its the signature mechanic of the gen, I could live with it)
