When I was hurt by weird things in evangelicalism I could feel but not name.... your videos helped me identify with specificity what was there. I could use this information to feel safe again as I explored new religious spaces.

In the midst of a faith transition, I knew what I believed but felt so alone in my new convictions as I deconstructed and reconstructed, I wondered if maybe there was no church for me. But your videos helped me find a Christian denomination that thinks with those same convictions, and challenges me to fulfill those even more deeply.

I am now a member of a healthy church that I found a year ago, after your videos brought me awareness of a Christian tradition I had never considered much of before.

Your information from a neutral perspective is so thorough - it speaks to this nerd's heart! This channel truly is a gem and I am so grateful for the ways in which this channel specifically has formed my ever evolving faith.

Religion is crazy hard to follow - sometimes it takes a lifetime in it to even know the nuances of the vocabulary of a group. I truly wonder if AI will never be able to emulate what you've done.

I really like this approach. I appreciate you walking through your use and non use of AI. I have a YouTube channel called Christian Biographies, and I spend months researching the lives of Christians throughout history and it is a ton of work for a single video. But knowing the importance of scholarly work I would rather it take longer but be factually true and usable as a source I or others can reference for the rest of my life rather than use ai to make a video I don’t really know is completely factual and have no confidence in referencing later in my studies or sharing the video with someone interested in the person.

I am going to go to your channel to start supporting you monthly because your work is second to none and your work is an amazing resource I use in my studies all of the time. Thank you again for all of your work.

Thank you -- I wish more creators would be transparent about their AI-use boundaries. A year ago, I told myself that I simply "wouldn't do" AI -- but that is looking increasingly impossible if I'm going to be on the internet at all. As far as art (though for other areas too), generative AI produces a horrifying mockery of human work, both abstract and not, and I've already had to stop watching other channels that make use of it. It is grotesque, disturbing

I love this. Been promoting your channel for years. I know I can totally be better at not being AI than it can at trying to be me, the very idea of letting AI write anything for me is anathema. I'll stay broke. No reason for you to be broke though, you make great content!

The real problem is that even if it is "perfect" it's still, ultimately, just one voice. They will all be drawing from the same publicly available information pool. They will all be optimizing along essentially the same parameters. And as a result will probably be iterations of the same model.

Imagine a scenario where no individual channel can compete with AI, and this results in us having essentially.... one channel. And that would be one channel on one platform per form of media (if even), and all drawing from the same pool of advertisers and financing. Leaving us with layers and layers if exactly the same thing, all dressed up on the surface to look different.

I personally cannot and will not ever look at AI generated “human faces.” They do not have the Imagio Dei. They are simulacra of what an algorithm believes a “human face” is, but lacks the central distinctive: the likeness and image of God.

It’s a joke, a mockery. An inversion of the Icon. While AI generation seeks to be as life-like and realistic as possible, this is purely a superficial similarity. Icons don’t seek to be realistic primarily; they rather communicate spiritual truths through a visual medium. And they do.

I will not look at AI “human faces.”
