Great clip! I have (2) President Madisons both w/ the rotary clock and 8719 pll. The one has a broken gear in the clock so I too plan on installing a frequency counter in it's place. Keep the video's coming especially if you install a frequency counter in that maddy!
Chears,
Mike

@frostbitewinterwind
Thank you for that little history lesson. Now that you mention it, I think I saw a sticker in there that said 1983. I'll double check and adjust my description if necessary.

Old toothbrush is great
Or a new paint brush to agitate the grime

No worry! Everything went down and not in. Cleaned controls with lube after. Everything turned out OK. I recently read of someone throwing their unit into the dishwasher, now that's extreme.

Other old dogs have barked the same. The results prove you wrong. Stop the barking and accept what works.

This video is painful to watch. A warm damp (with water) cloth is your friend.

Just because you got lucky and didn't destroy the radio, doesn't mean that it was a good idea. If you're going to hose down the front panel with a solvent, at least have the good sense to disassemble the radio first so you're not getting solvent into the potentiometers. If you continue to use this abusive method of cleaning on other electronics, you *will* eventually damage something. There's a reason that everybody cringes when they watch this video.

I'm not sure why you sprayed liquid into the radio, but I wouldn't myself. I used electric cleaner and sprayed the crap our of it. I used warm water with Dawn dish soap on a rag (squeezed out) and that cleaned everything else. The rest of your video was great...just not the spray portion. Lol
