I remember in the first chapter of the Bleach manga Ichigo mentioned that he used to be bullied by other students who wanted to dye his hair black and I thought "So they're emo bullies? Emos usually want to be left alone and I've never heard of them trying to dye other peoples' hair black." before I realized that it's because in real life Japan nearly everyone has natural black hair. Being a Kaigai Nikki, it just never occurred to me that natural non-black hair could cause problems.
