We need it for the record. For the record of historical atrocities committed. She may not go to prison, nor serve any punitive charges, but her story should be told since she ignited a grave injustice.

1kings 2 Now you yourself know what Joab(I) son of Zeruiah did to me—what he did to the two commanders of Israel’s armies, Abner(J) son of Ner and Amasa(K) son of Jether. He killed them, shedding their blood in peacetime as if in battle, and with that blood he stained the belt around his waist and the sandals on his feet. 6 Deal with him according to your wisdom, (L) but do not let his gray head go down to the grave in peace.

Indeed I tremble for my country when reflect that God is just: that his justice cannot sleep for ever: that considering numbers, nature and natural means only, a revolution of the wheel of fortune, an exchange of situation, is among possible events: that it may become probable by supernatural interference!

What did she get away with? Perjury? Her testimony was the motive, yes, but she didn’t speak under oath nor was in the presence of a grand jury. The judge knew she was coerced by her husband to embellish the story to make the abduction seem legitimate. She only gave that testimony for a matter of record. Witnesses from the store incident weren’t even called to the witness stand, including Emmett’s cousin, Maurice, who initially told JW Milam about the whistle incident. Judge Swango only cared about the crimes. If there was an abduction and murder by JW Milam and Roy Bryant on early Sunday morning, not what happened at the store on that Wednesday prior.

Correction: Whose LYING accusation! Maybe she sincerely repented. If not, The Great White Throne of Judgment awaits her soul's presence where she'll reap what she sowed.

This is so incredibly absurd! No one could get a fair trial after all the notoriety this incident has generated. After 70 years it is time to close the book on Mr. Till and move on.

Indict for what? She made an accusation of "improper advances". Does that make her responsible for what her husband and another man did? Looks like a case where they can't get the men responsible, so they will try for the next closest thing. But that is not how justice works.
