South Park's recent Penderverse special has kicked up a real firestorm online, with many seeing it as a damning indictment against Kathleen Kennedy and the lazy political pandering of Disney. But was it really, or was it a little more complex than that?

Kathleen Kennedy's failure has finally reached mainstream awareness. Most hilariously, she can't do a damn thing to retaliate against Trey and Matt.

I like how the race and gender swap feels way more natural in South Park than in any Disney product

“Make them gay & make them lame.”Hollywood’s true modus operandi

I appreciate them taking a middle ground to this rather then just attacking one specific side.

Given what we know about how KK viewed the character of Luke during the making of sequel trilogy, she did what she did knowingly. The reaction to the Fandom Menace was to call them either racist or misogynistic. She's as guilty as she's been made out to be.

Given how much responsibility Kennedy personally bears, she was portrayed very sympathetically. She should be grateful.

The greatest irony of all is that Matt & Trey go out of their way to portray Kennedy as sympathetic and not the soulless corporate monster her actions have led people to believe she is... and what was her and Diznee's response to this? Soulless Corporate Monster response.

I just think it's hilarious that Disney literally cannot figure out why they are losing billions because no one goes to see their stuff anymore

I haven’t watched a lot of South Park until recently, but I respect how Matt and Trey are always able to make such on-point commentary and mockery about all sides of life even 20 years later.

Disney and Kathleen Kennedy deserve ALL of our contempt.

Can you imagine having had the foresight to watch the first episode of South Park decades ago and think "Yeah... these guys are going to be the cultural genuises of our time" Brilliant as always.

Answer is simple. Tell authentic stories and the rest will take care of itself.

Kennedy is even handed. The force is female t-shirts, all male heros dead and Rey ends up with all the toys and usurps the name Skywalker. Im sure she is a good person.

What’s funny is that KK just came out and essentially revealed her true colours in reaction to the episode.
Doubling down and kinda revealing that she really doesn’t care about the fans and just wants to add the whole diverse crap.
She really is doing it just to spite people

I like how her response shows how truly out of touch she is. Literally saying she’s going to double down on making things more lame.

I've just recently discovered "the critical drinker". My goodness. Only a Scot can be so critically accurate and bitingly sarcastic, and look sublime doing it. Hats off sir. Hats off.

4:30 maybe she isnt a ultimate villain, but to say that Kathleen didnt go in with these types of ideas for star wars in the first place is letting her skirt responsibility and ignoring the things she has done and said. She is the one in charge of the franchises ultimate direction, therefore she gets the blame when they fuck up. Rey and her direction was her idea.

It's a nice attention to detail, how South Park even changed the Chinese restaurant's writing on their paper lanterns from "City Wok" to "City Woke" in that episode.🤣

The B-plot about A.I. replacing jobs was the part that stuck with me most. I'm one of the many, _many_ millennials who was suckered into an art school by all the "turn your passion into a career" stuff. Still paying off my student debt a solid 10 years after, even after shifting my skillset to something more practical. Take it from me, kids: Trades and STEM will always be in demand, the skills are often applicable outside the workplace (never underestimate that), and you won't be paying tens-of-thousands to get in.

The female Cartman was so good. She did a great job with the mannerisms. The Baldur's Gate arc was my biggest laugh.
