Viewer comment: After doing gigs with 2 K12.2s and the sub I realized I was totally wasting the fabulous low end on the K12.2s, so I sold them and bought a pair of K8.2s. The 8.2s seemed like they were made to go with the sub, better highs and mids than the 12.2s and the lesser quality lows were out when crossed over. The 8.2s have a wider dispersion than the K12.2s which have a longer throw, so they cover more of the room with less volume.

Great video! Highly informative and thank you for not going through a pointless sound comparison on a video! Thank you, Rich

I was buying my first speaker, and watched all your content. You helped me a lot to choose, I ended up with QSC k8.2. Thank you!!!

Thanks for the review and comparison. I have the cp8 and k12.2. I love my cp8. You're right, the cp8 is the best bang for your buck in its category.

Thank you for the comment about using the speaker for a keyboard, because that’s what I plan to use it for as well as with the guitar (using an amp/cab modeler).

Another reviewer on Youtube wrote: I've read a lot about the QSC K8.2 here, they seem to be great. But I prefer the CP8. Why is that?
- No fan which you can hear or that can suck in dirt or break down as a floor monitor.
- No high-tech DSP with display which I don't need for my use and that is probably more sensitive than the simple manual controller.
- Price half as K8.2.
Another wrote: If your current amplification is not very good (like cheap PA speakers or a "keyboard anplifier"), the CP series will be a huge improvement. K.2s are devine, CPs not excellent, but very good.

I have a pair of cp12's & was absolutely floored with how amazing they are stand-alone for karaoke gigs. You talked me into getting the elx200-12sp and it really does round the sound out amazingly for a small-medium room with a 30-40 person dance floor! Surprisingly I bought a used ev elx200-10p 10 inch speaker for a floor monitor & it's even louder than the cp12! Thinking of getting 1 or 2 cp8s for floor monitoring for my singers & grabbing another elx200 10p possibly pushing my cp12's out completely. Thanks for all your valuable videos!

Thank you for the comparison. Just one correction, on the CP8, input C (3.5mm) and input A share the same volume control.

It would be nice to hear how they sound.

One advantage of the CP8 over the K8.2 is the fact if you want to use an external power source to run without AC I use a 150 watt unit to run the CP8 without issues. To run the K8.2 I use a power source with 400 watts and of course it is much more expensive.

The gain control for the C input (1/8" input jack) is the same as the A input on the CP8, so it has one, it's just not dedicated to the C only.

Thanks, looks like the K8.2 is what I need

By the way, the EQ settings are just there under the contour control. That bass boost setting that you used to like, that’s the Dance setting. The speech setting is a bass cut.

Hi, how does the current price point of 500$ and 850$ factor into your overall conclusion, especially when compared to other brands! Thanks much!

Sorry to say there was a QSC price increase today. CP8 went up $20 to $420 and K8.2 went up $50 to $750.

Do you think the cp8 makes a good solo acoustic performer speaker?. I play in loud bars often so I need some muscle. Will the CP cut it?
