Soldano products hold their value (good ROI) so I'm certain I'll never lose money here with this purchase.
This is a "high gain" solid state amp head. It does not do clean well, nor is it supposed to. It basically has 1 function, breathe fire. It does that real well. It sounds like it has great articulation, like a "tube" amp, we'll see.
I happen to own a Soldano Atomic 16. it's a combo amp that I really like a lot, but it's real heavy.
I got my Atomic 16 for $500 locally, so they can be had fairly cheap. This is the speaker I used in the video, I just unhooked it from the amp part of the combo. As you can see the amp part of the Atomic 16 is turned off.
The cabinet I'll use this with is a Seismic Audio shell and a Celestion 12" speaker. The same cab I use with my Carvin V3m head.
New gear can inspire you, make you want to practice more and give you miles of smiles. This head is not for everyone, but for those who like to play a certain style of music (ZZ, VH, BOC etc...) this may be the ticket. Have fun and play your fingers off!
