Haleyybaylee/Haley Kalil started the viral #Blockout2024 with four words, completely by accident. While Haleyybaylee saying "Let them eat cake" would appear harmless, it has led to celebrities losing millions of followers overnight. And as Haleybaylee tries to move on from the drama, a huge conversation has been sparked about the role of celebrities in our society.

This is a commentary video discussing the recent Met Gala drama from Haleyybaylee.

the fact she didn’t understand the context of “let them eat cake” when using the sound is ironically the reason everyone is upset at her

while i don’t think hailey should be as big a focus as she’s become, saying i’m not an elite while paying 17, 000 A MONTH is crazy ☠️.

she casually spends 204k a year on rent. If she calls herself normal, then what am I, when I can't even afford 900 a month?

This touches on an even darker truth: "It's expensive to be poor". Somehow we stumbled into a system where the comfortable and wealthy have resources and get a lot of things for free, while the poor are taken advantage of and pay more. There was a study made by some university students that showed grocery stores in affluent areas had cheaper prices than the ones in poor ones- I think it was the US but this happens word wide: there was an experiment made by a Chinese student that showed she lived pretty comfortably without having to spend money in Hotels, airports, stores, etc because she looked wealthy and no one bothered her + received a lot of free stuff.

"Im not elite, i'm a normal person."

She lives in an apartment worth $17k( the rent is 17k a month), is a model and has been since a teen, was MARRIED to an NFL PLAYER, is seen on constant jets and planes, gets invited to after parties and host big-time events. The list goes on...
edit: IM AM NOT HATING ON HER! PLS! 😭🤚 i love her content and have been watching her for years! I'm just saying that normal ppl dont just have her level of success and thats ok. She worked to get where she is but not everyone had the luxury to do what she does.

Exactly. The woman is nice but she is delusional if she really thinks that she is "Normal". She is not a A lister but she is a millionaire and a top influencer.

It’s INSULTING that these rich people say we don’t work hard enough. I am educated with a degree. I work up to 60 hrs a week and STILL only just have enough for mortgage, bills, food and the occasional take-away. That’s it. No car. No holidays. Only just afford my face creams once every 4months.

Nobody needs influencers, models, celebrities etc etc. Start following and supporting people who actually do something and contribute to society...

I don’t think the “let them eat cake” video was a big deal, but her response video to the backlash was crazy. No accountability or self awareness at all.

Watching this as an outsider who doesn't use tiktok or instagram is bizarre

How does she not understand that being gifted a dress like that is even more elite than having to pay for it

I wish this much energy was put into local politics and elections, which have a higher chance of making change than a celebrity.

My biggest problem is that people want celebs to give their opinion and continue to harp at them about it but then when they finally say something they all get mad and call it performative. Of course it’s performative they are only speaking on it because they are being FORCED to comment on a subject they didn’t want to comment on.

"If you only wanna work 4 hours it's gonna be a lot harder for you to get a house" My husband and I work 2 jobs, one full time and one part time, and they are not minimum wage. They are decent jobs. We still cannot afford a house because the cost of a decent house is still 2x what we can afford. We can't work 4 jobs, we cannot move somewhere cheaper or we lose our jobs and a more remote area will not have the jobs we are able to get a decent income with, so what are we supposed to do? Sell our organs?

This made me think: Do people really want celebrities to talk about social and political issues or not?
They say they want them to talk about them, but when their opinion isn’t likable then it’s like, “this is why celebrities need to keep their mouths shut, they’re spreading bad messages”. But then when they don’t say anything it’s like, “their silence is spreading a bad message.” So its only when a celebrity says what people like that they’re allowed to have an opinion. It’s insane. They should ALL be allowed to speak or not speak… and then we get to make fun of em instead of demanding them to say the popular thing

Respectfully, Kim Kardashian isn't having to present her follower count to beg brands to sponsor her... They beg HER.

She’s not a horrible person for using an audio… yes, she should’ve done more research and made a better apology but the fact people are this mad is actually crazy… YouTubers literally groom kids and don’t get cancelled while all she did was say “let them eat cake”😭
