As of Friday I think most of that house has been removed from that bridge. It was a crazy sight to go by everyday for a week!

And the worst part of this, is your homeowners insurance will not cover any of this, unless you have a separate flood policy. People don't realize that homeowners insurance does not cover flooding. This is why I carry flood insurance with FEMA. Even though I don't live in a flood plain, you never know what is going to happen. So it's going to get worse when people start being denied their homeowners claims. Then what happens is people will stop paying their mortgages because their attitude becomes, well if I don't have a house why pay a mortgage. Then banks forclose on that property and take the land or what's left, and auction off to recover what little bit they can, and the best part is if it's an FHA backed mortgage, the banks don't lose a dime. So lesson here is carry flood insurance, even if you don't live in a flood plain it's still worth the 4 to 5 hundred bucks a year. Developers absolutely drool when these tragic events happen. It's all dollar signs to developers.

Where on Tunnel Rd? Nearest intersection please. Landmarks? Something?? I found it. I'm familiar with this area. This is the area of the BP gas station by I-40, Exit 55, on Tunnel Rd, Asheville. Swanannoa River flows under a small bridge by Porter Cove Rd. This river is very very narrow in the area, but the water rushing through it has engulfed the bridge and Tunnel Rd. The people there are standing at the edge of the Quality Inn parking lot.
