Located just over an hour away from urban areas such as the college town of Fayetteville in Northwest Arkansas NWA and standing at 2309 feet above sea level, this hike, White Rock Mountain Rim Trail, offers outstanding panoramic views of the Ozarks mountains where the hills seem to stack one behind the next like the seemingly never ending waves of the sea.

Built during the Great Depression error in the 1930's by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC), the campground at the entry to this trail contains many amenities including rental cabins, camp sites with tent pads and fire pits, a lodge, a general store, and a hiking trail to last forever like things were built in the old days with solid brick shelters to relax in along your 2 mile hike while you survey the views spaced out upon the trail and other stone features. Interestingly, the recreation area here received its name because of the white appearance of the rocks caused by the lichen on the sheer bluffs.

If you’re looking for “hikes near me” in Arkansas or Fayetteville then this this 2.1 mile loop hiking trail and campground is well worth the hour long drive from Mountainburg Arkansas just off the I-49 highway. Be careful to drive slow along the dirt roads between the highway and the mountain, you don't want to end up starting your hike early :) . This hiking trail is open year around and provides a nice hike, walk, or trail run and you can even bring your dog for the trip.
