Barack Obama's Speech at the 2020 Democratic National Convention

Former President Barack Obama will headline the third night of the 2020 Democratic National Convention on Wednesday, delivering a live address from the Museum of the American Revolution in Philadelphia. The choice of location is intended to convey that “our very democracy is at stake” in this election, according to a CNN report.

Obama will join other party powerhouses like Sen. Elizabeth Warren, Hillary Clinton, and Sen. Kamala Harris, who will officially accept her party’s nomination for vice president. The former president’s speech comes after an impassioned address by his wife, Michelle, on Monday night, during which the former first lady assailed the current occupant of the White House as reckless and desperately unqualified. “Donald Trump is the wrong president for our country,” she said. “He has had more than enough time to prove that he can do the job, but he is clearly in over his head. He cannot meet this moment. He simply cannot be who we need him to be for us. It is what it is.”

In every country, when children would find out I was an American, they would get excited and say “Obama, Obama!” I live in SE Asia now. It is different these days. The respect is gone. I did not always agree with Obama on his policy decisions but he ALWAYS led with conviction and character. He stuck to his ideals and put the needs of his citizens first. He will always have my respect for that.
