Polyurethane Casting

This is my first attempt at casting a 3D printed part in resin. In the end I think I used a bit too much silicone for the mould, however I still have enough to make several more in the future. I will also try to pre-mould the alignment keys to prevent some of the flashing forming around the seam line.

You could have made 4 moulds from that amount of silicone… :D
Also if you have parts with a flat surface, you can just make it an open mould - then sand to flatten perfectly.

Alot of mold for small part. Instead of tape. Hobby store or walmart has rubber bands. Easier helpful
Instead of funnel. Can use injector. Like off a food injector. Once you inject resin. Can suck up rubbing alcohol for cleaning it. I got some goof off residue remover. Gonna see how good it cleans it.
I recently got a pressure pot. For removing air bubbles.

Do you need to use a lot of silicols for a small cast?

Such a small part, so much silicone and resin. You could make 3 moulds and 3 parts with all that.

I used cling film to hold mould together, and a large volume syringe for injecting the resin.
