Wales, Chepstow Castle and Tintern Abbey

Показать описание
Chepstow is a fantastic town on the Welsh Borders. Located on the River Wye in South Wales, it is easy to visit from London by car being about 2 hours drive.
Known for its racecourse, Chepstow has a fantastic Medieval castle, built in 1067, Port walls, enclosing the town, a beautiful Iron bridge and a little quaint town centre.
Chepstow Castle is very well managed and a fascinating castle to visit. It is not huge, but is well maintained as a ruin and highly accessible to the visitor. It is ideal for children and adults with plenty to see, do and explore.
Set on the picturesque River Wye, the views over both Chepstow in Wales, and Gloucestershire in England are fantastic.
5 miles up stream and about 15 minutes drive we have the ruined and awe inspiring Tintern Abbey. Established in about 1135 by Cistercian Monks from France, the Abbey was rich and powerful before being dissolved by Thomas Cromwell, on behalf of King Henry the 8th in 1536. Today the magnificent ruins of the Abbey and surrounding buildings stand as testament to its previous glories.
