If so, I'm sorry that happened. I know it's awful to be startled by a mid-roll ad. I have them disabled on all of my content, but YouTube has a confirmed bug that causes them to play for some viewers anyway. It's not just my channel – this has been a problem across the entire platform since at least mid-2022. YouTube's engineers know about the bug and what causes it to happen, but unfortunately, they have not provided any information about when (or if) they will fix it.


If you are affected by the bug but still want to access my content, I recommend that you view this video's description and try one of the alternatives I have provided, such as Spotify or Rumble. If you want to stay on YouTube, you'll find that I have live stream versions of my most popular content, and they tend to be safe from the bug – but not always.

The only guaranteed way to never get ads on YouTube is to subscribe to YouTube Premium, which I understand is not an option for everyone. As it turns out, the reason I have the luxury of disabling ads everywhere YouTube will let me is because my channel makes the vast majority of its revenue from YouTube Premium. I have reviewed my analytics data and it appears that YouTube does not compensate me for the mid-roll ads in question, which I suspect is because their systems cannot reconcile the fact that a mid-roll ad played even though I have them disabled.

You are welcome to reply to this comment with information about what happened to you, but at this point, we have a pretty solid understanding of what's going on and are just hoping it will be fixed. Historically, it helped when viewers would list what type of device they were on, which app or browser was being used, the approximate timestamp of when the ad played, and what company/product/service the ad was for.

I appreciate your patience and understanding in this matter, and I'm sorry there isn't more I can do.

Really late. But thanks for this. When I was in elementary school my mom used to shower in the morning before she woke my older sister and I up for school. When I heard the sound I knew my sleep time was coming to an end lol. Now in college I find the sound comforting

The sound of a shower i discovered was super relaxing to me back when i kept getting sick and not knowing why. Turns out my gallbladder was dying on me. (Im okay now got it removed). To THIS day though shower sounds have been the most relaxing and comforting for me.

i use this sound every night for my daughter to sleep. i read the highlighted comment about youtube being wack for the ads despite you disabling them, and it does it to me every night. any time before the halfway mark of this video, i’ll restart the entire video because somehow halfway through it just stops every time for me and it gets dead silent which results in my daughter waking up. so to avoid that, we restart the video entirely, and oftentimes i wake up because i don’t hear anything playing so i have to touch the screen or raise the volume or something to get the screen active — almost as if it’s like netflix asking “are you still watching?” kind of example. it’s frustrating if i don’t catch it in time but normally i do. these videos are so helpful especially this one but i just don’t understand why youtube ruins it with ads or stopping the video altogether until a button is pressed on the roku to “remind” it that i’m still “watching”. overall love this creator and content, just annoyed with youtube in general nowadays lol

Idk if you will see this comment 2 years later, but thank you. This is the only video with the exact sound I need to kind of mask my tinnitus. I have it really bad and when I got COVID a few weeks ago, it got A LOT worse, and it stayed that way. It's still destroying my life, but this video allows me to get some sleep from time-to-time, and that rest is really helping me cope.
