The Flag of Zimbabwe like this it was in Chimurenga/Umvukela 1896-1897 there was a war. Mbuya Nehanda hanged the tree his last words said " the bones will rise again" Zimbabwe lost

And the second war in 1966. Thousands of people died. The soldier named Chitepo died in 1975. And Josiah Tongogara died in 1979.

Best of all. They gained independence in 1980.

Spain in the 1920s had another flag without the black eagle. Afterwards in 1931 it changed for the Republican red, yellow and purple. After the war in 1939 it changed again for the one with the black eagle.

Croatia did have a flag during German occupation. I think many more cases have already been mentioned in the comments.
