Queen bees fight to the death

Only one queen bee can rule a hive. When two queens emerge at the same time they fight to the death. The worker bees gather and watch the drama as they wait to see who will be their queen.

I would’ve thought that she could’ve been saved after realizing that she was not gonna be the one she could’ve been put in place until queen bee was needed. It was sad to see attention queen bees had a fight

i have two questions to all the biologists and beekeepers:
1. is it possible for the old queen to win over the young one? if it is, what happens then? She gets to live until she is eventually killed?
2. what if the winner of the fight is heavily injured (missing a leg or two or stung in the abdomen and so on)? Do the bees kill her as a defective queen or does she keep on living and laying eggs?

What happens when both are critically wounded afterwards? I mean even if one wins but dies from their injuries later, do they just repeat from step 1?

So now I’m wondering because they don’t have fists what is the killing blow? Is it the stinger which I’m probably guessing or just one gets exauhsted faints and is carried to death idk

I thought one of them is suppose to leave the hive and the other claims it. I guess it was bad timing they hatched at the same time
