Every firefighter and nearly all of the medical personnel who were sent to the scene were volunteers...
Man my heart goes out to them....

"this didn't have to happen"... That's the saddest part of this whole thing. This was an easily avoidable accident that cost so many wonderful people their lives, and scarred soo many others

Man, imagine being the guys in the parking lot? Just standing there, having a nice chat, when a bus sized limo going 100 mph come out of nowhere.

I love how how you name every single victim, giving them the respect they deserve.

It’s true what they say: all regulations are written in blood.

I was a friend and coworker of two of the victims of this crash. This video was tough to watch. Thank you your respect of the victims. They were so excited for their plans for that weekend.

As a commercial driver myself, hearing about the limo company's criminal negligence just made my blood boil. These folks were supposed to be celebrating something good, a person's birthday, but instead it just ended in senseless tragedy because of people's greed and laissez-faire attitude towards something as crucial as vehicle maintenance. Those of us who drive semis are required to do a pre-trip inspection every single day before our vehicles move a single inch on a public road, and honestly I think the same should have been done here and it would have saved a lot of lives.

My heart goes out to the families of the victims who perished in this tragic incident. May they all rest in peace.

Amy’s parents lost an entire family, it seems. I don’t even know how they are coping. Tragic and senseless as this limo should not have even been on the road. Thank you for covering this story by humanizing the victims.

I drive past the memorial nearly every day. The families and friends put a lot of effort into keeping it well maintained.

I was a 911 EMT in neighboring Albany. That event rocked our whole community from an emergency response perspective as well. Thank you for telling the story

I've seen many channels cover this incident and was actually going to skip it and just give you the thumbs up but I'm glad I decided to watch it, because nobody else named every single victim the way you did. I really appreciate the way you show victims so much respect.

Limos in general are just... not a good idea. I don't remember who it was but I remember seeing one video that covered the physics of what changes when you stretch a car and how it creates so many weaknesses. Then on top of that, no seatbelts.

All because some slimy limo company owner would be so careless and cheap as to not ever maintain their vehicles. It’s infuriating

The piece of garbage owner should have been charged with every single life he took that day. RIP to those 20 people. This is horrible. I've heard this story before, but I appreciate your attention to detail and illustrations of it.

Heartbreaking. It doesn't sound like there's anything the driver could have done to stop it...pulling to the side would have flipped it, and everyone knows a parking brake won't stop a car on a downhill with momentum. The company owner was definitely the responsible party here.

Thanks as always for gracefully helping us learn about these tragedies, and learn from them!

This one hit close to home for me. Grew up with Rich Steinburg and used to party with Axle in our 20's. I'll never forget Rich telling our 3rd grade teacher that he had to take a squirt when he had to use the restroom. We both laughed so hard that we had to do a silent lunch. So we made paper airplanes to send notes to each other the entire lunch period.

When you think about the amount of people that were devastated by losing loved ones just from this one accident. Parents lost all of their children. Children lost both of their parents. Just horrific.

I drive one so I can say this confidently, Excursions are already oversized, heavy as hell(roughly 5 tons or 10, 000lbs when fully loaded) and honestly handle worse than a fuckin semi truck. Add another couple thousand pounds, plus an extra 15 feet, and little/no maintenance and you have a recipe for disaster

Oh man, I remember this one. I lived about 40 minutes away from Schoharie (Ballston Lake, if there's any fellow upstate folk here in the comments) and everyone was talking about it when it happened. It kept getting brought up for weeks with each development in the case. I actually knew the lawyer who represented the victim's families in court (I was working at a riding school at the time, he and his wife boarded their horses there). Those small upstate NY towns tend to be real quiet and boring, so stuff like this really rattles the community and all the surrounding areas. It was a big deal.

I was working EMS in voorheesville that day. Heard many people I know from many agencies respond to that. My wife was a co worker of one of the women in the crash.

Those responders are still struggling today with that incident.

Former chauffeur here. Incredibly sad, and infuriating. Multiple failures, and needless loss of life.

Its stuff like this that blows my mind. In one crash a chunk of family is just gone. Imagine what the surviving family members think hearing not one or two but all sisters dying in the same day to the same crash. Especially if their parents were still alive. Doesnt matter how old the victim is, a parent losing possibly all of their children at once is heartbreaking
