Discord when preventing scams: 😴
Discord marking every file I send as a virus: 🤬

It would be funny if 300 raid bots somehow end up on that server. But that wont happen, right?

Pro tip to anyone who sees this. PLEASE set it so you can’t be DM’d by random people or server members. Just keep it so only friends can DM you. You can’t fall for phishing and scam attempts if they never show up on your doorstep

This is one of the reasons why I'm glad the only server I ever fell for was literally just one for a streamer trying to advertise her streams and not one of these.

Just passing by the comments to help to spread that message.
I know people can fall for this and I will do everything I can to help people to see how to escape that trap!

I really appreciate your video.

If somebody were to start saying slurs in order to get out, the moderator would either have to ban them (getting them out) or watch as everyone else starts doing it and the whole server devolves into a hellhole.

I think join servers should be downgraded to "Suggest Servers" where a bot can pop-up a invite to you
And it will tell you which bot gives the invite

I think the one good use for 'join servers for you' is as a reward tier in some services such as Patreon (which they do ask for this permission). However, I really think Discord needs to implement some sort of safeguard that informs the user if they leave then get auto re-added. Imagine leaving a server, getting re-added, but getting a prompt "We have detected you have left <server name> and are being re-added with <bot name>. How would you like to proceed? [Re-Join] [Prevent Re-Joining] [Prevent Re-Joining & Remove <Bot>]" along with a "never ask again" button for those off chances where it is a good use. A simple confirmation for abuse is such an easy answer/solution to an otherwise shady scam. Discord probably assumes users know 'where Authorized Apps' is, but the fact is most users are... well, if they fell for the scam, do I need to say it? As someone who works in IT, users constantly surprise me at how unwilling they are to use their brains. Trying to think of a way to say this without flagging the algorithm.

The "Join servers for you" permission is used by Patreon for Discord benefits. Just yoinking the permission would jeopardize a lot of creators on Patreon, though that's not to say it's impossible for Discord to arrange something with Patreon like they did with Twitch.

Dude, your editing is getting so much better. I love the swish noise on your transitions between screens, so satisfying!

I can think of two things. Make the join servers thing an opt in service. Basically you need to manually opt into it whenever a bot asks for it.

The second solution is just...whenever a bot joins a server for you. It gives you a notice that says "service xyz has added your account to this server"

The 3rd solution is to add stricter rate limits to the api call.

IF YOU GET PUT INTO ONE report the server itself to trust and safety

Abee seems like the kind of person who breaks into your house and screams “how dare you!” if you confront her trespassing.

Can’t believe how much the server was exposed and Abee was pwned in this video.

Discord support is fast asleep with stuff like this, but as soon as you accidentally join a server as it's being raided they'll ban you and ignore all of your support tickets

One of my suggestions to improve Discord Bot's is, they have to verify once a month. If they dont verify within week of the start of the month, the discord bot will be taken down/unverified. This would eliminate the issue of bot developers losing their bots, and being sold on the discord bot black market, and turn into a scam bot

Thanks so much for this. I realized I had given access to a few of the bots shown in the video, but was never "jailed." I just went through and took out the sus bots and left bots that are used for discord server list that have the join servers for you permission alone

An idea to get around this is first make sure the user knows what bot brought them to the server and give an option to disable the application, next if a user keeps leaving a server only for an application to bring them right back perhaps another button/popup would be useful (also reporting the bot or something)

When you talked about the bots that do the adding and how to turn them off I found out that I fell for this once a while back. Thanks for this video
