I just did the appeal and it came back approved. They had denied me because I made too much and had too much saved up (3k saved up). I appealed and provided documents that showed mine and my parents' incomes and explained that my tax forms indicated my financial aid was also my "income" which inflated my numbers. I provided a copy of my financial aid report and my W-2's to show that I did not make that much. On the side, I wrote them a 1.5 page letter explaining my specific circumstances and detailing the forms I provided.
