This year I challenged myself to do at least one no spend day every week. Have been doing well so far, sometimes not spending for 2-3 days for the week, incl no cash spending, online ordering, or recurring charges for those days.

Saving tip: only spend paper bills, put coins in a jar. It adds up!
This is my crazy money, my best friend and her husband use it to pay for cruises.

Taking your advise about saving extra paychecks in Golden months has really improved my financial situation. I came across your channel early last year and implemented alot of your routines, but I just adapted them to my family lifestyle. I use to spend more and save less. Now I save more and spend less.

This is awesome! I love how you write it out as you talk about it then save it in a binder! Love it!

Oooh! #5 gave me a great idea for one more thing I can adjust with my budget!

Earlier this year, I've switched a few of my monthly subscriptions (Canva, Microsoft 365, Hulu, and Disney+) to annual subscriptions. It IS a great way to save because the annual payment is usually offered at a discounted rate; BUT Tip #5 made me realize that I could still budget what I would have paid for those monthly fees and add it to my savings account. So then what I can do is pull out the cash for what that total would have been with each paycheck, then at the end of the month deposit that cash into my savings so that I'll have additional funds in that account on top of what is deposited to it from my paycheck.

Thanks for the idea, Alaina! :)

Oddly, when I’m walking my dogs and I see money on the ground, I pick it up! 🙊🤣 I’ve found everything from 1c to €20 and even £20! It all added up for me, and I put it in a little pot that I have to break to get it out!

Right now I’m using the $5 envelope. Every time I get a five dollar bill I put it in an envelope until the end of the year for savings or an emergency. Whatever comes first.

We have a rotating calendar month between envelope method months and no spend months. Our free spending months are only our bday months. Its 3 of us. So the rest of the year we are saving a ton...im talking over a thousand a month.

I have accounts at two separate credit unions. The first account dates back to childhood; the second was opened when a new credit union was running an opening special with an interest-bearing checking account. I have checking and savings through both accounts. I use one for day-to-day, and the other for investments and emergency savings. The money for the emergency account is pulled out of every paycheck, and, as you said, I don’t miss it. I just have to remember to make sure it goes into the savings account instead of the checking account.

Great and helpful tips, thank you! :) I especially liked the 3rd tip on saving cash in envelopes because it can also help you with realizing that you have money and that you are doing quite well. In having physical money in a dedicated saving space like envelopes you can actually see, with your eyes, that you have money and maybe not stress out too much about it.

I've only just found this channel and can't wait to see more. I love your clear yet beautiful presentation style, and judging from the comments, you seem to have a lovely supportive community too.

Did you practice: "Hi, I'm Alaina"? It sounds so incredibly polished. Forgive me if I spelled your name incorrectly. Thanks for the reminder regarding auto savings deposits. I had started it some years ago but stopped. Set a weekly one up just now. I'm hard wired to think about debt, house repairs and leisure but not savings until something inevitably comes up and I have to incrementally use some of it. Save the Savings is also my other favorite tip! You're a content beast ☺

I love No Spend days. I going to start doing that. And I want to download the Bingo game. And I love the way you use stickers.

Wow, I just wandered upon your channel. I need to know how to make a planner. Can a person living on social security save money. I have changed many thing since I have been retired. Never had a 401K. I was always a good saver and I thought I had enough to help me through my retirement. (Depends how long you are going to stay alive...lol. 😂) So, Dog food was costing me 125 a month because of one of my dogs being an diabetic, so I started making my own dog food. I spend approx. 70 dollars and they are healthier and less Vet charges. (Man they are so expensive now days) I spend my time trying not to spend so I took up my college classes of drawing. Then I took up painting. (Furniture) making old into new so I would mentally think I had new furniture. (I have sold some things I have painted too!) You can go to the hardware stores and pick up “Mistake” paint for a fraction of the cost. This kept me busy through most of Covid flu. Now, even though I am soon to be 74 in 2 weeks, I do my own yard work instead of having the guys that cut my lawn do it. Dang I save 50.00 a month. Yes, I have some aches and pains, but then who doesn’t, at my age. 😂. So.... Do you have a vid on making these beautiful planners. Oh, by the way, you have beautiful hands, nice long fingers...Do you play the piano? Your printing is great too. Thank you my dear for helping us all save.

I save all my five dollar bills, then every 6 months I add them to my student loan payment. I also save all my change for special tips during the holiday season.
