Cathy discusses how the Negative Feedback Mechanism (or Negative Feedback Loop) functions to control the release of hormones in the endocrine system. She discusses the analogy between a thermostat and the negative feedback mechanism, examples of a negative feedback loop (release of thyroid hormones), discusses how the positive feedback mechanism differs from the negative feedback mechanism, and provides an example of a positive feedback mechanism (release of oxytocin).

I was told that the release of oxytocin is a response to the pressure stimulus caused by contractions or suckling. Oxytocin then encourages more contractions or milk production of mammary glands. Another example of positive feedback is clotting.
