Decolonisation wasn’t a bad thing since holding onto an empire in the modern age became an economical and logistical nightmare, I’d say it was the good ending. Plus, the commonwealth.

I'd say the 'canon' ending is more of a neutral-good ending the UK is still a leading economy and a significant global power with lots of international influence.

The best possible ending is one where the British economy isn't devastated during the world wars leading to a gradual decolonisation of colonies around the world leaving strong and stable democracies in all former territory with a strong commonwealth which the UK world be the de facto leader of. This scenario would potentially see Ireland re-joining the UK as well as British Irish relations would still improve as they have in our timeline but Ireland would be much more closely linked with the UK and the commonwealth rather than the EU.
