“Nostalgia often feels bittersweet -- mostly happy and comforting, but with a tinge of sadness that whatever we’re remembering is lost in some way."

Shout out to the sound tech. The whole band sounds great, but those drums are phenomenal.

Drummer Mike Byrne brings it all together. I believe he just turned 20 yrs old right near this time. Just like the comment below, pulls the band in tight and is spot on. The kid did alright on his short tenure w/the Pumpkins.

Billy wants everyone to join in but they're all to hypnotized by the beauty of how good this sounds live LOL!

Have to say this is the best live version of "1979", performance was perfect, recording was perfect, way better than the other live "1979" versions online, including the one with Howard Stern.

Shakedown, 1979
Cool kids never have the time
On a live wire right up off the street
You and I should meet
June bug skipping like a stone
With the headlights pointed at the dawn
We were sure we'd never see an end to it all
And I don't even care to shake these zipper blues
And we don't know just where our bones will rest
To dust, I guess forgotten and absorbed to the Earth below
Double-cross the vacant and the bored
They're not sure just what we have in store
Morphine city slippin' dues down to see
That we don't even care as restless as we are
We feel the pull in the land of a thousand guilts
And poured cement
Lamented and assured
To the lights and towns below
Faster than the speed of sound
Faster than we thought we'd go
Beneath the sound of hope
Justine never knew the rules
Hung down with the freaks and the ghouls
No apologies ever need be made
I know you better than you fake it to see
That we don't even care to shake these zipper blues
And we don't know just where our bones will rest
To dust, I guess forgotten and absorbed to the Earth below
The street heats the urgency of now
As you see there's no one around

Mike Byrne drives this song with a basic set of bass, tom, snare, hi-hat, and not abusing the crash. Sweet kit...less is often

I feel like Billy went to all the local schools and got the 3 best music teachers to help him play this gig. AND THEY ROCKED IT!!

That time when Billy Corgan ordered the rest of the Smashing Pumpkins from Wish.

1979, I was riding my BMX through del amo mall in torrence California with my friends and being chased by security, spending many days at Redondo Beach pier spear fishing, running around Hermosa beach trying the latest Mary Jane. Running around Hollywood with older friends that could drive, taking a blotter trip and heading to Knotts berry farm, life was good. No cell phones, no Fentanyl, and always jamming out to KLOS on the way to torrence high school
