Russia assumes UN Security Council presidency, Ukraine calls it 'worst joke ever'

The United Nations Security Council, the international body responsible for maintaining peace and stability around the world, will be led by Russia starting April 1, known to many as April Fool's Day. Over a year ago, Russian President Vladimir Putin launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

Presidency of the UN Security Council is a rotational thing that goes in alphabetical order of member countries. In this rotation 'R' is current.

This seems like a move to make Ukraine rely more on China as mediator for the peace talk than on US. It is very true that US has been more focusing on selling their natural resources and weapons than on ending the war. And from there, entire Europe has fallen into economical deep. Thus this decision seems rather like an expression of discontent and distrust toward US by those countries. At least one bright side is; due to the current conflict wit US, China has to rebuild their image as a peace-maker. That’s why China has announced that they will lead the peace-talk between Ukraine and Russia. So in my opinion, the end of war may not be that far as China has to make this happen for their own interests. I personally don’t care who ends the war, I just hope no more suffering for the people in Ukraine ASAP.

No one says anything about the US, UK and France when they take their turn as the UN Security Council president. These 3 countries have been involved in coups, colonization, wars they created, theft of foreign reserves of other countries, sanctions etc which have caused the deaths of hundreds of thousands, if not millions of people around the world - that makes them total hypocrites. The US and UK are above all the worst and have not only been the driver of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine but refused to allow peace negotiations between Ukraine and Russia to be resolved back in March/April 2022 and could have prevented it from ever happening back in 2021.
