I had only heard about Lille and had never been there. But then I got a tip from a Frenchman in London about how strategically located Lille is, only an hour from Paris and less than 90 minutes from London. I visited Lille on 2 day-long trips in 2022, and that prompted me to buy a small apartment there. I have been the owner of my secondary residence since 2023 and that was the best decision I could have made. I frequently go to Paris, but every time I come back to Lille, I am so glad to leave the touristy crowds. My apartment is one metro stop away from both train stations, yet I feel my neighborhood is in a small town. The concert scene is fabulous and all of the major French singers always come to Lille. I much prefer concerts in Lille because they are in smaller venues with fewer people. There is even an English comedy night once a month, which I have been to several times. One of the top fry shops in Lille is on my street! I love Lille!
