Показать описание
Malik and Miles George are biological engineering Ph.D. students at MIT dedicated to promoting STEM and higher education in fun and relatable ways.
Acorns are not technically alive in the sense that they do not exhibit the characteristics of life such as metabolism, growth, and reproduction. However, they are a vital part of the life cycle of oak trees, as they contain the embryo of the future tree and have the potential to grow and develop into a new oak tree when conditions are favorable. So while acorns themselves may not be considered alive, they are certainly essential to the continuation of life in the form of oak trees. What do you think: are acorns alive?
