Noel is such a paradox, his whole persona is stereotypical arrogant 90’s rocker boy, yet so many of his tunes (especially in the acoustic versions like Slide Away and Live Forever) are performed with such pure emotion and evident vulnerability behind them. Soulful and introspective Noel is the best Noel.

As much as I’m not a fan of much of his recent work, he’ll always remain one of my favourite musicians, and one of the greatest of his generation.
