I worked on the NCL America cruise ship for 3 years and always loved our weekly tender into Kona. As a San Diego native, this was the closest place to home I could find in the islands. Glad to see that it still looks the same as it did when I left nearly 15 years ago!

My absolute favorite thing to do on the island is to walk along Alii Drive, visiting the shops and restaurants. Thank you for taking us along on your walk. October can’t come soon enough for me.

Thanks for the video. We were there in Kailua Kona around the same time the video was filmed. We actually flew out on the 3rd of July. Anyway, we enjoyed our time there immensely.

Whe I was growing up in Kona the only hotel was Kona Inn and the original King Kam hotel which was about half the size of the current hotel
There were no traffic lights only a 4 way stop sign
No apartment buildings
No condos
Old airport park was the airport
No traffic anywhere
It was wonderful
It’s a massive tourist trap now

Good walk-thru of Kailua! Especially since im in the Subarctic...I smell the plumeria and hear the zebra doves! Gekkos...Cane spiders, Mongoose, Myna birds!...Honestly, its too short!
