UAB School of Nursing Competencies Suites

The University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Nursing Competencies Suites are 20,000-square feet of simulation and skills lab space that includes a working operating room, home health suite, mother-baby suite, pediatrics suite, ICU/acute care suite, long-term care suite, nurses’ station, patient-transport elevator and an infusion-therapy room. Integrated into the Competency Suites is video recording, a simulated Electronic EMR and Medication dispensing system, and a multitude of manikins and task trainers. Students from prelicensure, graduate, and our doctoral nursing programs participate in experiential learning activities as part of their curriculum.
