I truly hope Ralph Fiennes wins the Oscar.. He was literally robbed getting Oscar for Schindlers List

Interesting that this reviewer says he was “bored”, because I’ve seen Conclave twice now, and wouldn’t mind seeing it again. I haven’t been bored for a single moment. Also I found a lot of symbolism throughout, and in the way it ended.

I think the ending is absolutely perfect with the theme of "uncertainty" that Ralph Fiennes character say in his dialogue

Ralph Fiennes has been one of my favorite actors since the 90s. That little five year run he had from 1993-1997 was just golden. Schindler’s List, Quiz Show, Strange Days, The English Patient, and Oscar and Lucinda. Nice to see him get some awards buzz

I just want to say that I truly agree with all other people who claim Ralph Fiennes to be one of the most gifted and preeminent actors of his time. I remember, shortly before his Tony Award win for Best Leading Actor in a Play for his role of Prince of Denmark, he was presented as "who may be the most unique Hamlet ever till turned up on Broadway"!

I thought Stanley Tucci gave an indelible performance in this movie. He was phenomenal.

Would love to see this film. I really would love to see Ralph Fiennes finally win his Oscar. He has always been a wonderful actor but I agree with everyone here he should've won over Tommy Lee Jones for his spectacular, scary and haunting performance in Schindler's List, a true masterpiece of a film.

Rossellini had two memorable scenes for me - the one in which she tries to prevent Fiennes from talking to the Nigerian nun, and her “I know nuns are supposed to be silent” speech.
Wasn’t it refreshing to see a film in which all the characters were middle-aged or older? I wanted to see the white smoke at the end, but otherwise the ending surprised and satisfied me.
Is Best Cinematography a possibility? I thought the shots were spectacular, all the red against the black, white, and gray, the cigarette butts on the courtyard tiles, etc.

the ending surprised and satisfied me.
Is Best Cinematography a possibility?

I think I wasn't bothered by the pacing as you were because I knew I was in good hands within the first 5 minutes of the film and then I sat back and enjoyed the ride. I LOVED it! Haven't enjoyed a movie this much since The Holdovers...both these films are just good f'ing movies. Also, I loved the ending. More of this please!

Just to say that in the book, the twist doesn't "come out of nowhere" - if you read the book first, it all makes sense..

Ralph Fiennes broke my heart in the English Patient! He deserves At Least a nomination. He’s an excellent actor and kills every role in several different kinds of characters. He’s just due. ♥️

Remember, Rossalini's mother won an Oscar for only being in one scene.

I was interested in this movie the entire time.... I don't agree with it being uneven.

For me, I was absorbed in for every minute of the narrative. I personally didn’t mind that it takes it time, as I think every detail is followed through all the way to fruition. I see your point as to why you are split on the twist though, but I think the implications of what is going on in the background and what that means for the film thematically really has made me love the entire film that much more. Personally, I hope this wins Adapted Screenplay; I think it’s a masterpiece!

Sing Sing is the BEST MOVIE of the year and deserves nominations in most categories. The movie was shot on 16 mm film, in 19 days, with a very small crew. The DP, Pat Scola, should be nominated for an Oscar for cinematography because the visual look, the lighting, the film choice, all created the naturalistic atmosphere to tell the story. Accompanied with Bryce Dessner's score that sells the beautiful scenes and intimate facial expressions. And kudos to the director, Greg Kwedar, who allowed dialogue to be ad-libbed at times, which created the emotional essence throughout the film that tugs at your heart. The cast deserves best ensemble because 90% of the cast are the formerly incarcerated men that participated in the RTA theater program while in Sing Sing and that authenticity shines. And what can you say about Coleman Domingo.... he deserves the Oscar this year, his performance is perfectly understated, and he allows the other men to shine because this is their story. Well Done!! Also, Clarence Maclin and Paul Raci both deserve best supporting nominations. Their performances tie the strings that pull the film to its brilliance. Best movie overall in a very long time and well worth the emotional journey.

I can’t unsee Amon Goeth whenever Fiennes is on screen.
