Here we are, the fall of Ironwood ! Not gonna lie when I watched the end of V7 I thought there was a tiny chance for him to get redeemed but I forgot how RT treats their interesting characters so I was half surprised of the route they chose for him. Now he's dead and can go to hell with all my fav characters of the show, spoiler: all my fav are dead lol (hello Pyrrha, Penny, Adam and Ironwood).
This Save Me Pt.2 was made to show that Ironwood needs to be saved from himself after everything he did in V8, but unfortunately he went too deep in the craziness to be saved. I hope you will like this video tho !

He was a lot of things in vol.8, but to me he was the most interesting character, an individual losing himself and lost despite him sacrifices his friends, sanity and his soul.

Your first “Save Me” is one of my absolute favorites of yours, and I’d definitely consider this one a worthy successor. Loved the subtle light ray effect, as well as the perfectly smooth transitions. Great work!

I feel like a lot of people don't really understand the genius that could've been Ironwood's character. I mean Volume 7 did it pretty well, we slowly see Ironwood lose grip of his sanity and with his semblance "Mettle" explains a lot of his actions. But in Volume 8 he just plays the role of your average villain just for plot reasons instead of what they have been building upon: A desperate leader stuck in a dilemma trying not to recreate what happened at Beacon. Nonetheless, Ironwood is still one of my favorite characters in RWBY, just a shame it was poorly executed at the end.

I know it's not a very popular opinion but i don't think james is evil and deserves redemption etc. He doesn't have magic powers, he is not chosen from the gods or have silver eyes. He is a simple man that start from very low with the purest motivations and earn his place as a headmaster. He spent his life in active battlefields side by side with others soldiers. With all this years of experience and his semplance general ironwood was a tactical genius. In volume 8 he is the only line of defence left for the relic and perhaps even for all remnant. Team rwby acts with passion and emotions. But emotions cannot stop Salem, james had to fight an impossible war against the armies of salem and his own people. His final moments was alone in the vault trying his best for all of remnant...

Ironwood was what the world needed. Someone who would find a way to keep things running even without oz. He was the right man for the job. Someone prepared to do anything in order to keep the relics safe, and in turn, keep humanity from being purged by the gods.
I keep thinking about how things could have gone differently, maybe if they had told him the truth, if they had talked and tried to figure out how to best use the relic, because chasing team RWBY with penny on board cost them wayyyy too much time. But then again, he probably didn't think that they had anything important to say, and for good reason, he was making all the tough choises untill now, in his eyes, what could they know?
But in the end, what's done is done. Our characters did what they thought was best and that's what all of us can ever do. Failure is a part of every story, I just hope they learn from it. I'm just sad that he died.

I really hope ironwood doesn't live past Volume 8, really.

He was probably the best crafted character in all of RWBY in V7 only for them to butcher him completely in V8 in my opinion.

Very well done, Apo!!! (As ALWAYS!! 😄) So many want to blame anyone & everyone for the General's downfall. But, at the end of the day, James Ironwood only had faith in himself and his And Salem played on that. I do pity him!! He had a warrior spirit but a tin heart. 😎👍🌹✊😰

Ironwood did nothing wrong, from a certain point of view. He only turned to Martial law once he'd exhausted all other logical options, and he only attacked Team RWBY once they betrayed him to the point where they were themselves the villains. He only attacked Winter because he saw her fighting alongside Emerald, a known associate of Cinder.
Raise a glass to James Ironwood: the white knight who sacrificed everything for his pawns.
