I love this, and I agree with almost everything... except for the boggart thing. The way I see it, Hermione's greatest fear wasn't just a bad grade, it was failing, it was not being good enough, it was disappointing the people she cares about and looks up to. Except I suppose it would be kind of hard for a boggart to shape into that - being more of a concept than a thing and stuff - so it turned into the scene we know as a symbol.
