The Switch feels like it’s been around so long. I was playing it in the hospital waiting room the night my nephews were born. Now they’re 7 years old and have their own Switches.

Anyone want to argue, speculate, and complain about Switch 3? We can beat the crowd.

I'm just convinced everyone in those discussions actually grew up with the switch and never lived the dark ages of the Wii U generation, it really weirds me out to see people bothered by a simple name and no gimmicks

As much as I'd like a fun name, I'd prefer a successful console that allows Nintendo to make more great games. It's a no brainer choice in my opinion.

As someone who worked in a video game store from around 2013-2016 I can tell you the Wii U name was a huge reason for the failure of the console. I can't tell you how many parents I had to explain it to because they thought the game pad was just a new controller for the wii or they just didn't understand the difference between the two. To me switch 2 is a very clear and sensible name that differentiates the systems that from the average non-gamers eyes probably looks exactly the same, hell they look exactly the same to me just looking at pictures. I would have loved it to be called the Super Switch as a throw back to SNES but Switch 2 makes a lot of sense

I figure that I'm going to avoid the arguments about the Switch 2 by vaulting over it and starting to argue about the Switch 2 Pro vs the Switch 2 XL.

Switch 2 is the most sensible name they could possibly give it. There is absolutely zero chance of confusion. Everyone understands two comes after one three comes after two giving a number means that even the most casual Normie will understand that this is the new system. There’s absolutely no way to misunderstand that name.

The internet always does this, and it's no surprise, either. People need to chill, seriously.

The Internet: "They should just make another Switch, that's better in every way, and call it Switch 2." – Nintendo does that. – The Internet: "Wait, what? That can't be right Waa!"

I think Switch 2 makes perfect sense. The brand is already very much established. Moreover it clearly defines that it's the successor.

I assume its mostly because the mid gen upgrades muddled the water for console names, Nintendo definitely wants to keep the Switch brand, but nowadays we have so many "Pro" iterations that just adding a name to Switch was very likely to cause confusion, specially if the unit itself isnt going to look that different from the og Switch, slapping a 2 is the most direct way of communicating that this is a new system

I think the idea of naming it the Switch 2 is very practical, and a smart move on Nintendo part. We now live in a world where devices, such a smart phone tablets, get refreshed every year or so, and usually get a number change at the end of its name. This means using a number system will make sense to the greater consumer population, and avoid brand confusion, like what happened with the Wii U. Also, if bodes well, if you like the Nintendo Switch concept, as it seems to imply that they will continue revamping the switch every few years. I’m ok for new gimmicks and other quality life improvements, but all I really want is a faster, higher quality Switch.

As much as I would love a super switch, or switch advance. I think switch 2 is the safest choice to avoid confusion. Nintendo has had a lot of confusion in the past with their various naming choices. "New 3ds", "wii u". Even super nes had some confusion around it with parents not really understanding it was a whole new system, not an new upgrade.

It seems some people forget that Nintendo doesn’t have two separate systems anymore; they really don’t have a choice than to make a switch 2.

They can innovate in other areas like movies or theme park or items like alarmo.

Switch U would be such a savage move by Nintendo😂😂

I’m sorry but I really love the SUPER SWITCH idea. It’d be reminiscent of the jump from NES to SNES, and you can’t deny it rolls off the tongue smoothly.

5:12 I remember bring my Switch to high school to play between my final exams. Now I bring it with me on the plane for business trips… man time flies 🥲

Microsoft had the right marketing idea. Announced the Xbox Series X and sales for the Xbox One X spiked. Absolutely genius.

I personal feel the issue with something like "super switch" is that for the general consumer it might come across as an enhanced switch instead of a whole new generation.

Oh look we can get the switch lite, switch, switch oled or super switch.

And price wise might get people getting a cheaper model then going "wait why cant I pay this super switch game"

Switch 2 is alot clearer I feel to understand for people not in the know
