test drove the LBX, it's outstanding both in driving and built quality. Also where I live Lexus offers 11 years warranty if serviced in the dealership...can't beat that

Crazy dosh, I'd take an octavia wagon in sportline trim driveaway at $43k but kudos to BMW for the 40/20/40 rear split...

Looks great IMO, definitely the one I'd consider against the A3 and A-Class.

For the money, one can get a Golf GTI, though not apple to apple, I’d pick the GTI anytime. Used to be more justifiable because of RWD, but those were the days long gone.

I drove a range of 6 cyclinder, RWD BMW's over 25 years.
The new 1 Series is essentially a VW Golf for BMW money. I would purchase an R Line Golf with 4 cyclinders (not 3) and use the substantial savings for something else. Maybe a child's education or a family holiday.
BMW design language is no longer European, and that makes it less desirable to me. 3 cyclinders and FWD does not a BMW make.
The BMW condition based servicing is great though. I believe other manufacturers over service vehicles in Australia. (Modern high-quality synthetic oils don't need such frequent changes).

Save up and buy a GR Corolla. Save money and buy a top level Corolla.

Everytime time I watch your reviews on German cars I fall in a trance and say - I Want One! But my common sense slaps me in the face asking me - Do you need one? So I end up buying Japanese or Korean when I'm in the market for a family car 😢

Could you tow a small camper trailer with this 🤔?

Maybe it’s just me but I hate the new trend of one long display system with the integrated screens, looks like a cheap cost cutting measure to me passed off as new tech

Nice review but I'll keep my F20 ZF 8 speed rear wheel drive 1 series.😊

On a hot or sunny day, can the sunroof block out the heat and light?

I can remember when BMW said rear wheel drive is the only system worth having in a vehicle. Minus badge snobery, this is no better than the average small hatch. 3 cylinder 1.5 DCT and no spare they can keep it.💩

My kia cred five door is more practical, lower tax band, and it produces the same power. It's more reliable as the BMW has electrical issues like sensors and warning lights on dashboard. It doesn't look like a BMW anymore it's boarder line Japanese style. It's front wheel drive unless you go for the more powerful version. The engine is from the mini.

How is it reasonable to get a cooper for 1.5k less only ? Makes no sense in 2024 new
