Peter and John Heal a Lame Beggar - Bible story

One afternoon, Peter and John were going to the temple to pray and worship God.
As they were walking inside, they saw a man who was crippled. He had not been able to walk since the time he was born.
Every day, the crippled man was carried to the temple and put down near a gate called Beautiful.
He would sit there and beg for money and help from those going into the temple.

When John and Peter walked by, he said, “Please may I have some money to help me. I cannot walk.”
Peter and John heard him and stopped. Peter said to the man, “Look at us!”
The man thought that they were going to give him some money and looked at them.
Peter said, “I don’t have silver or gold to help you, but I will give you what I do have. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, get up and walk!”

Peter helped him to stand up. Immediately, the man’s feet and ankles were healed. He jumped to his feet and started to walk!
Peter and John continued into the temple to worship and pray to God. The man went with them, walking and jumping and praising God!
People saw him walking and praising God. They recognized that he was the same man who had been crippled for a long time.

All the people were amazed that the man could now walk.
Peter told the people about Jesus. Many of the people believed. The number of men who believed grew to 5,000.
Some of the religious leaders wanted Peter and John to stop speaking about Jesus, but they said, “We cannot stop talking about everything we have seen and heard.”
The people praised God for healing a man who was lame more than forty years!
