Why Bollywood is so Racist?

preview_player
Показать описание
Bollywood has a long history of insensitive jokes and stereotypical portrayals of minorities, often reducing communities to caricatures for comic relief. Sikhs are frequently shown as loud, foolish, or overly aggressive, reinforcing outdated tropes. North Eastern Indians are either ignored or misrepresented, often facing racial slurs and being depicted as outsiders. South Indians, especially Tamilians, are mocked for their accents, exaggerated gestures, and traditional attire, reinforcing cultural stereotypes rather than celebrating diversity.

While comedy is subjective, such portrayals contribute to prejudice and social alienation. A more responsible approach in filmmaking is needed to ensure humor doesn’t come at the cost of respect and inclusivity.

As a sikh i feel very sad of what Bollywood and media targeted Sikhs and made fun of our community, i was once publicly in front of the class said Sardar tere 12 baj gye kya, these jokes not only create discrimination within society but also people become so angry that they become anti india because of these stereotypes, Sikhs did so much for the country this is what we got in return from the country is heartbreaking

People who make lame jokes on North East Indians can't even locate seven sisters on map.

Our people are the problem. We lack civic sense, self-awareness, and humility. We don’t respect boundaries, and worst of all, we never stop yapping—always judging, always interfering, always more interested in others' lives than fixing our own flaws. We gossip, we comment, we mock, but rarely do we reflect.

I had a Northeastern friend in school, and believe me, Northeasterns are some of the most genuine people—kind-hearted, unfiltered, and real. But the way they are treated? It’s heartbreaking. The racism, the ignorance, the constant need to make them feel like outsiders in their own country—it’s disgusting. And yet, they don’t bow down. If someone offends them, they don’t stay silent. They say it straight to the person’s face. They don’t pretend.

And then there are South Indians—disciplined, intellectual, deeply rooted in their traditions yet embracing modernity with grace. Punjabis—happy, fearless, full of warmth, always ready to fight for what’s right. And Biharis—arguably the most hardworking people, carrying the weight of stereotypes while proving their brilliance in academics, government services, and business. Yet, what do we do? We mock their accents, laugh at their struggles, and reduce them to jokes.

We are so obsessed with tearing each other down that we forget—our strength lies in unity. But no, we would rather hate. Rather divide. Rather judge. That’s who we have become. And honestly? It hurts. Because we could be so much more. I hate it when people judge others on any basis—be it their face, accent, or anything else. Are we idiots? Don’t we realize that we live in one of the most beautiful and diverse nations?

Biharis face the most discrimination in India, yet they are the only community that has never rejected Indian nationalism despite enduring so much bias. But now, I feel that this has gone too far. Sometimes, I don’t even feel good saying that I am a citizen of a country where my own people do not consider me one of them and instead hurl abuses at us. How long will we Biharis continue to uphold the spirit of nationalism alone when all we receive in return is discrimination and insults?

*I was on the receiving end of bullying back in preschool. Because of that, my self-esteem has deteriorated, and I struggle with socializing in my personal life, work, and academics.*

*These people can never understand the long term mental health impact it can have on someone.*

*Love for the Sikh community and all other marginalized communities. Stay strong* ❤❤

I was a South Indian in North India during my schooling days. You can't imagine the racism I faced, teachers were as bad as the students. And now these North Indians are flooding South India.
