Onryo the only ghost that blows you before it gets you

Onryo will hunt after he blows out 3rd candle. NOTE if there is more candles within 4m range that are lighted, he will not start a hunt(Imagine as this resets and goes back to him like blowing only 1 candle). Best way to check for Onryo is to get all candles you can and keep relighting them. He will not be able to hunt at all(He likes to blow candles and it will not make him start a hunt from room close by or whatever). I'm using this strat for a long time now and it never failed me.

Edit: Forgot to mention that Onryo looks like has much higher chances of blowing out ur lighter as well. If you notice that when using my strat, you know its onryo instantly

Onryos are confusing me a bit, due to old and conflicting information.

So, what IS the skill, really? To hunt 100% of the time every 3 candles? That it MAY hunt every 3 candles? Or that it has to blow 3 candles in a row to hunt?

Or any other simple explanation would help a ton. Thanks!

I honestly did not know they had to be somewhat back-to-back, thanks for the tip. I been doing it all this time with only one candle it seems like

I had a onryo once I wanted to see what happens if I placed more candles so I placed 4 he blew only 3 out but one was still left but even because of that he still hunted like 2 seconds after

They don't have to be back to back. The Onryo can take its time. Third candle = hunt. Onryos are fun in the Chapel in Sunny Meadows. The room is full of candles. Surprise!

if i have a teir 3 firelight, and it blows it out will try to start a hunt or do i have to have 3 of the firelights

For those curious to learn as well, every candle blowout after the initial 3 has a chance to start a hunt as well. It won't need 3 blowouts every single time, just the first time it happens. And, when a player dies, this hunt chance after a blowout increases. Once 2 people have died, every candle blowout will start a hunt.

While my onryo do not hunt after 3 blows twice. At least for 1 minute for each of 3 blows. It made me think it was mimic (2 evidence and shade was marked so, I thinked that it was shade mimic)

does it have to be 3 different firelights? or can i relight a blown out candle to count towards the 3

wait, is this better or worse than the onryo test where you place a crucifix and a lit candle, and if it blows out the candle before the crucifix gets used, you can guess it's an onryo?
