INSANE home brewery setup GETS WATER UPGRADES

Today, in the magical land of my home brewery—where beer dreams come true and DIY projects always go wrong—I’m installing a reverse osmosis system. That's right. A reverse osmosis system. Because if you’re brewing beer in a home brewery and you’re not using perfectly filtered water, are you even trying?

Why stop at just brewing when you can complicate things with advanced water filtration? I’m taking my home brewery to the next level by plumbing in a shiny new reverse osmosis system and my counterflow chiller, steam condenser, and a wash-down hose.

Now, some might say, “Why not just stick to basic tap water?” But those people clearly don’t understand the level of commitment I have to this home brewery. With this reverse osmosis system, I’ll be filtering water so pure that even the fish will be jealous. Soon, I’ll be brewing with reverse-osmosis-filtered water so crisp, so clean, you’ll think it’s been blessed by the beer gods themselves.

So, grab a pint, sit back, and get ready to watch a questionable amount of plumbing in the name of homemade beer. We’re turning this humble shed into the most sophisticated home brewery on the block—one reverse osmosis system at a time. Let’s make some beer! Or, you know, flood the brewery trying. Either way, it’s going to be fun.

Great video Dan. I’ve been watching for a while but only just subbed (sorry about that).

Your vids are certainly more relevant to me as I’ve just pulled the plug on a BrewTools B80 wich gets delivered soon. You’ve certainly helped me know what to expect and certainly get started on the front foot.

Cheers

Love the progress with the brewery! Great water install and well thought out, really love the RO system with that tap set up right over the brewtools system!

Looks like a lot of work that I would never know how to do lol. The heating coils in your brewtools looks pretty cool.

Great inspiration videos for my similar project in my garrage.
I'm also considering leading the water outlets via a hose to a nearby flordrain. I will thou also put a shink in for cleaning the accessories. Have you considered a kitchen sink somewhere?
I'm also planning on collecting "waste" water from the RO process and a potential condenser into a plastic barrel and using that with a circulation pump to feed the counter flow chiller. Saves some water 😅

Lots of great stainless fittings! The pex definitely looked a lot slicker with the crimp ring thingys (and also probably a lot cheaper than the adjustable hose clamps). Cheers dude!

Love this kind of stuff. I went thru a somewhat similar process plumbing my garage brewery so I know it takes a ton of planning and work to do it well, it looks like you’ve thought this through nicely.

I like your drain set up, it’s smart and totally necessary for a brewtools set up like this. Looks like you got the heights all sorted so it will passively drain out everything. Very nice.

Just one little tip, Bobby at brewhardware has a brilliant little device for filling your kettle with an auto shut off so you can let it run and fill overnight.

If you're looking to get into this hobby, don't watch this video lol. What an insane setup! My brain hurts watching this video. I'm glad your back and making videos, I'm always so intrigued/blown away watching them.

I’d love a brew shed and my wife wishes I had a brew shed, but the amount of gear you have and use makes me think of all the cleaning time. I’d have to take it all apart and make sure it gets a good clean as assurance that it’s clean.

On my RO system, unknown for yours, is running off power with a pump.
What I did was measure the amount of water it would dispense over time, get a WIFI enabled plug and use Google Home to set up a simple script that starts and stops the pump when the amount of water I want has been dispensed.

Then I added a cheap WIFI Camera over the Brewtools to make sure water is in the tank.

And use the new Brewtools Cloud to start the brewday remotely, such as when I come home from work I can mash in.
